Bus Carrying Oakwood University Students and Staff, Involved In An Accident In San Francisco, California

The Oakwood University administration was informed this morning of a bus accident that took place in San Francisco involving 18 students and two staff members.

The students are members of the Oakwood University Aeolians who are scheduled to perform in the Bay area this weekend.

Around 12:25 am PST on May 4, 2019, while traveling from the San Francisco airport, the bus transporting the students and staff was involved in a multi-car accident on Highway 101.  Students and staff members were checked onsite by EMT, and initial reports revealed no life-threatening injuries.

University officials from the Office of the President and many other departments are working to gather accurate information about what happened and to assist all those affected.

The University is grateful for the role first-responders have played and, to our alumni, the board of trustees, and support personnel from the San Francisco area who are aiding our students and staff. Pastoral care has been mobilized and has already offered support and attention to those involved.

This statement will be updated with more information as soon as it becomes available.
